Short Hair, Don't Care!
Every woman goes short at least once in her life. Thinking of saying goodbye to your long tresses? Here's 5 things you should know before going on a scissor frenzy.
Maintenance is key! Prepare to see your stylist more often. Short hair gets oilier and dirtier faster than long hair, so you'll need frequent washes. You'll also need consistent trims if you want to preserve your cut. As far as color goes, the shorter the hair the more those roots will show. In other words, plan for color touch-ups.
Do your research. Once you decide that short hair is definitely what you want to do, dig for inspo! Look up hairstyles and hair trends you like to show your stylist. The worst thing you can do is describe what you want, because it can be interpreted differently than explained. Bring photos, screenshots, videos etc. Let your stylist grasp a visual of what you're looking for.
Get your pockets ready for new hair tools. Your jumbo curling iron won't serve much justice to your short hair. The lower you go the smaller the tools. Invest in a mini flat iron, a fine tooth comb and some hair clips. Smaller and thinner tools will allow you to have better control of your hair during the styling process.
Trust the process. Your hair won't grow back overnight, but it will grow back eventually. Avoid anything to risky until you get comfortable with your new length. Try going in stages: a lob to a bob, a mushroom, to a pixie, etc. Even us adults need to take baby steps!
Try it out. There's nothing wrong with sampling the style before you fully commit. Take a trip to the wig shop and play in multiple styles and lengths until you find the one.
